“Since I make Ocean City my home, I routinely will see customers who have bought properties from me over the 30+ years I’ve been selling real estate. Nothing makes my day better than to hear a family tell me how happy they are with their property and how much fun the kids or grandkids are having,” said Doug Grisbaum, head of The Grisbaum Group with Long & Foster Real Estate.
Doug was born in April 1963 and has been a lifelong resident of the seaside resort. He has been married for more than 20 years to his wife, Epiphany, with whom he has three children: Devon, Douglas and Dolan.
He graduated from Ocean City High School in 1982, then earned his degree from the University of North Carolina–Greensboro in 1986. Doug has been a licensed real estate agent since 1984. Previous jobs included Bert’s Beach Rental, Fun City USA and Copper Kettle Fudge on the Boardwalk and Berger Realty from 1986 to 2016.
He completed Temple Real Estate advanced training, is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), and attended the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI). Doug also is a past president of the Ocean City Board of Realtors (2000).
“I’m not someone who can work in an office setting eight hours a day. I’m much more comfortable working outside the office in social settings,” Doug said. “My passion is to be creative, and since almost every real estate transaction is different, I can use that to my advantage. I’m able improvise and change things on the fly. That is important when there are so many moving parts in a transaction, such as the buyer, the seller, the bank, insurance policies, home inspections, appraisals, continuing certificate of occupancy, summer lease transfers. Every sale has twists and turns and challenges. Just when I think I’ve seen everything, something new comes up, but that’s what makes my profession so interesting.”
Outside work, he enjoys swimming, playing racquet ball, operating personal watercraft and attending Philadelphia Eagles games. Doug also likes to travel, ski and walk his dogs on the beach. In addition, he is a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Vanderbilt sports, especially cross country/track and field.
“I love my job, and I think that shows each and every time I work with a buyer and/or seller. It’s an honor to have a family choose me to represent them with such an important life decision. It’s something I take very seriously,” Doug said.
