John Lazzara is a Resort and Second Home Property Specialist (RSPS) and a Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA) who has been working with The Grisbaum Group since 2000.
Born in July 1953 in Italy, John immigrated to the United States with his family when he was just 3 years old. Despite living most of his life in America, being Italian is a big part of his identity. He values family above all else and believes honesty, integrity and hard work are the keystones of maintaining a good reputation.
“I like my reputation to be one that someone I have worked with before will immediately refer me to someone else because I have been honest and upfront,” John said.
John, who lives in Egg Harbor Township, has bachelor’s degrees in business administration and political science from St. John’s University, and enjoys helping families find their best investment and the home that best suits their needs.
He grew up in Brooklyn, where he met his wife, Joanne, who was also born in Italy. They married in 1976 and moved to southern New Jersey the next year. They have two children, a daughter who is a teacher and a son who is a marine tech, and three grandchildren.
John speaks fluent Italian and reads and writes in that language. He said that is due to his parents’ and in-laws’ influence and the fact that he grew up in a strong Italian neighborhood in New York.
John earned his real estate license in 1999 and started working part time in real estate after a long career of running his own credit and collections business.
He said he enjoys working in the second-home market because people are buying out of choice rather than necessity.
“I like the fact that I work in a town where people are happy when they buy a home,” he said, noting that he has sold multiple homes to clients as they age and their lifestyle changes.
When he is not watching Minnesota Vikings games with his granddaughter, he likes to fish and go boating in his 27-foot Sea Ray. He also loves kayaking.
John is a parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Somers Point. He said religion has always played a strong role in his life. He even has a cousin who is a bishop in Bridgeport, Conn.
John played soccer in high school and college, and later played for a semiprofessional team in the 1970s. He support the Italian national team first, then the U.S. team because, as he says, “they have a better chance of winning.”
